February Favorites

I love seeing monthly favorites, so I wanted to start sharing my own. Because I think it’s fun, and cool to see what makes someone’s month!

Below are a few highlights that stood out for me as my favorite things that I read/used/played this past month. ThWhat was yours?

Masala Chai Tea

A couple of months ago we decided to buy a collection of loose leaf tea samplers. The goal was to find out which we favored so that we could get more of it since we now have the cutest tea infuser!

I knew going in that the couple of types of Chai we acquired would probably be my favorites, but the Masala Chai spices specifically make my day when I get a cup of it. Though I still have to try the rest of the tea samplers, I definitely know I’ll be seeing more of this in my future.

Howl’s Moving Castle

One of my favorite Ghibli movies is inspired by this book. I came across an e-book copy while browsing my local libraries digital collection. As soon as I saw that it was available to borrow, I immediately added it to my list to read.

As I dove into this book I noticed a collection of differences in the two versions of the story. It turns out that the movie is a calmer version of the book. A lot of moments in the book were combined and slightly changed to fit a movie format. To be honest I got a similar feeling of joy after finishing the book, and a craving to re-watch the movie. Most books turned into movies can’t say that both versions are great. Of course, this story is one of my favorite tropes to begin with, so I’m a little biased.

The Art of Horizon Zero Dawn

This game has become one of my favorites. It’s number two on my list now? Very close up there beside of Okami, which is my number one. So I was beyond ecstatic when my friend surprised me by getting me a copy of this book. The concept art in this book is so inspiring and enchanting that I’ve already spent many days just looking at it. I’ll definitely be using it as an art study reference in the future.

Beyond the art though, this book also shares how the game transformed into the finished piece that’s out now. Getting to read the “behind the scenes” of this great story is so cool!

Aquarium Adventure

Some might have seen my journal entry sharing some of the pics from my trip to the local aquarium. It was such a treat and a big highlight of this past month that I couldn’t help but mention it again.

We didn’t know what types of animals would be inside, and the variety of birds and other creatures there as well made it feel like an inside zoo (which I’m not against; I use to daydream as a kid of such places). The biggest moment for me was getting to see the manatee they housed. It was such a beauty, and even swam right to me and stayed by me for a bit, which made my day. Manatees are one of my favorite underwater mammals. Beyond the geeky biology stuff of loving their biomes and behavior, they are just the cutest.

A lot of February’s favorites were part of my hobbies, and related around my birthday. I have no idea what this month will be like, but I am excited that I got to do another post like this to share with y’all!

If you have moment, I would love to hear what made your February a little brighter as well.

Hope you have a great day,

Jessi, the ArtsyRobotz
