The Gamer Tag!

Video games have been with me most of my life. They are, in my opinion, one of the best modern ways to tell a story. Though I’ve made a collection of crafts inspired by them, I haven’t really gotten a chance to talk about my experiences with them. So when I saw Geek Girl’s Guide post about the Gamer Tag, I thought that it would be the perfect opportunity to expand on it!

This tag was created by ZombieGoddess when she noticed that there wasn’t a tag like this for us videogamers. And though this tag is completely about videogames, Geek Girl’s Guide is working on a board game tag that I can’t wait to get my hands on! (Though it will probably be done on my Boards & Crafts blog, but still!)

Let’s get started on the Q&A!

1. What is you gamer tag?

It’s slowly changed over the years, but for the most part now it’s ArtsyRobotz. Or some version of that name.

2. PC or Console?

I mainly play on console, but Steam is my go-to for multiplayer games and Stardew Valley. So both?

3. Console of choice?

PS4 at the moment. It has the best collection of games for me.

4. Handheld of choice? (DS, PS Vita, etc.)

DS, hands down is my favorite handheld.

5. Keyboard or Gamepad?

Keyboard. I don’t have a gamepad.

6. Singleplayer or Multiplayer?

Depends on my mood really.
For the most part I play Singleplayer games, because they usually have the best stories.
However, I really enjoy multiplayers. Especially ones that I can couch co-op with my friends.

7. What was the first game you have ever played?

I played a lot of educational videogames when I was young, but the first videogame I played for the fun of it was either Zoo Tycoon or Impossible Creatures. I can’t remember which came first.

8. Hardest game you have ever played?

There was a fairy game my brother got me for my birthday one year for the PC. It wasn’t difficult with the game controls. I just got motion sickness if I ever played it. I never was able to finish that game…

9. What was your first gaming system?

Technically I had been playing PC games before this, but I don’t count it. Never really had. For me, getting a GameBoy Advanced SP was the first gaming system I ever got my hands on and could say it was mine.

10. What is your favorite game of all time?

That’s tough. I have a lot of favorite series, but favorite game would be Okami. Or Bioshock. Or Fallout 3. See? I can never decide.

11. What game is currently your favorite?

Stardew Valley, The Last Guardian, and Pokemon Sun. (I can’t pick just one, but at least they’re all on different platforms.)

12. Favorite video game genre?

I never can properly title my favorite genre, so just going off my Steam recommended tags: Indie, Simulation, Casual, RPG.

13. Favorite video game character?

Amaterasu, the main character of Okami. Anytime I see anything with her on it, it brightens my day.

14. Which video game character do you hate most?

Princess Peach. I don’t really know where it started, but she just frustrates me. It’s not a hate, but a strong dislike of the character.

15. What new game you are most excited for?

Horizon Zero Dawn. I really want to play this game. As soon as I saw it the first time at E3 I fell in love with this game. Each new bit I learn about this game excites me, so it’s the top priority on my wishlist.

16. Favorite video game company/developer?

Double Fine Productions, who created Grim Fandango, Pyschonauts, Broken Age and many more.
As well as The Behemoth, who created Castle Crashers and BattleBlock Theater. I think I’ve played every game I knew they worked on that I can get my hands on.

17. What gaming systems do you currently have?

Steam, PS4, and 2DS are the ones I currently have with me.

18. How long have you been gaming?

Most of my life. If we count the PC games, I think 15 years? If not, it’s been a decade.

19. How long was your longest gaming session?

An entire day. From the moment I woke up till like 2 or 3 in the morning? This was during high school on a fall or spring break. I really loved Harvest Moon. I don’t think I could do that now.

20. What game have you clocked the most time on?

Pokemon Sun I think with 134 hours. Before that it was Pokemon FireRed at 120 hours. With Pokemon Sun I’ve had a lot of fun completing my Pokedex and Shiny hunting. There’s something relaxing about Shiny hunting after a long day.

17. What gaming systems do you currently have?
18. How long have you been gaming?
19. How long was your longest gaming session?
20. What game have you clocked the most time on?
I had a lot of fun answering these questions, and also learned a bit about myself through it. For example, I always thought that my video game love started when I got my GameBoy, but it turned out that I had forgotten to add the time before it existed and all I played was computer games.
As I mentioned earlier, I tag any blogger who wants to join in on the fun! Or, if you don’t have a blog and you still want to join, leave your answers in the comments below!

Thank you all for reading, and hope you have a great day!

    1. Michelle,

It is one of the most time consuming games I have, but I love every minute of it. It’s so relaxing and perfect after a long day to explore Stardew Valley. I totally get needing to put off a game because you know it’s addictive. I just have a weakness for farm simulator games like this!

  1. Amaterasu brightens your day? Surely a sun goddess does that for everyone? Unless you live in Scotland. In which case, she visits for about 7 days of the year and then goes on her holidays again…
